When we rely on the frailty of our flesh, we push others away, becoming hardened by life's trials. These experiences wrap around us like a spine of pain, turning our hearts to stone and creating barriers that isolate us from the world.

I will give them a single heart and place a new spirit within them. I will take their heart of stone and replace it with a heart of flesh. When the Spirit of God takes control of our heart we find healing and comfort in the fellowship of God and others.

We are but dust, formed from the earth in the image of God, as it is written, “Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground” (Genesis 2:7). Yet, through the fall of our flesh, we are corrupted, as Scripture declares, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23), and we inflict wounds upon ourselves, as it is written, “The soul who sins is the one who will die” (Ezekiel 18:4).

Formed from clay, I have journeyed through countless ups and downs, shaped by every trial and triumph along the way. Though my life has been marked by chaos and challenges, nothing has blessed me more than the gift of fatherhood. Through every experience, I have been molded and refined by adversity, as Scripture says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11). As a father, my greatest desire is to show my children that they can achieve anything, to let them believe they can become anyone, for it is by the hand of the Father who formed the clay that all things are possible.

Thank you grandpa for wrestling against the thorns and thistles. You loved the fields until your dying breath and the Lord blessed us to see your sacrifice.

I remember being a child in my mother’s arms—the safety, the love, the comfort, and the peace. As an adult, those memories are not just reflections of the past, but a reminder of how deeply I still need my mother, more than I often realize.
